"Meow, Peek-A-Boo!"

Dylan discovered one of our cats lying under our bed and he kept peeking at her and saying "Meow, Peek-A-Boo." So cute!

Sick Days

As mentioned in the previous post, I discovered that Dylan was running a fever when we returned from a trip to Maryland for his cousins' birthday party last Sunday.  He did not sleep very well on Sunday night and on Monday morning, he cried "Mouth! Mouth!" soon after he woke up. I took him to the doctor that morning and his pediatrician diagnosed him with the Hand, Foot and Mouth virus. I couldn't see any tell-tale signs but the doc said that he had blisters all over the back of his throat, on his tongue and on the sides of his mouth. He had a pretty good day on Monday but woke me up at 2 that night and didn't go back to sleep until around 3:30. On Tuesday morning, he was extremely irritable and cried repeatedly over every little thing. I gave him some Children's Advil and he promptly gagged and threw his breakfast up all over himself.  On Wednesday, he was in better spirits but was covered all over with a red spotty rash and had several blisters on  his face, hands and feet. On Thursday, the rash and blisters all started to fade and he was FINALLY able to go back to daycare on Friday. It was a long week but thankfully,  I was able to work from home. Dylan was really good to play independently nearby for big chunks of time but he'd often come up to me and give a spontaneous hug or kiss or just smile and say "Hey Mama!" :)

Birthday Party Fun

Last Sunday, we went up to Hagerstown, MD for the 4th birthday party of Dylan's cousins, Ava & Aiden. It was held at Chuck E. Cheese's and Dylan was a little too young to be a participating party guest, but he had lots of relatives there who eagerly held him and passed him around. He really enjoyed seeing Pappy again and spent a lot of time playing with him. He especially enjoyed "driving" the Chuck E. car and a Bob The Builder bulldozer. He seemed to have a really good time so it was a big surprise when we arrived home after the party and discovered that he was running a fever. But more on that in the next post. Here are some pictures of the fun party:

First Haircut

Dylan had his first real haircut on Saturday, and I took him to my hairdresser, Debra, that I’ve been going to for 10+ years. I was bracing myself for the meltdown of the century. The last time I tried to trim his bangs out of his eyes, he held his hand on his forehand and moaned “Ooooh, Owwww, Oooh” for a ½ hour! But amazingly enough, he did GREAT at the salon. As you will see from the pictures, he wasn't exactly thrilled to be there, but at least there was no throw-down fit. In fact, he didn’t shed a single tear!! All the ladies in the salon were commenting on how well-behaved he was, to which I replied "I don't recognize this child! I think I brought the wrong one for a haircut!"  I took him to the mall afterwards for lunch and he slept hard for an hour in the stroller. Then he fell asleep again on the way home and slept for another 2 and ½ hours in his playpen, so I guess he may have been secretly traumatized. But what a brave boy!!
