Two Boys, One Blog
It had gotten a bit cumbersome to try to keep up with my two blogs Evan-ville and Dylan-ville (one for each son) so all further updates about Dylan and his big brother Evan will now be found at:
http://kerchevalboys.blogspot.com/
This site will remain up because it's basically the only "baby book" I have of my little guy and there will be times when I just have to watch a video of him at two months old. But having just one site to update now should make it easier for me to do just that more often. In fact, I've only had the new site up for 4 days and I've already posted 8 times! Major progress! See ya on the new site!

Running with the Big Kids!
It's been apparent for the last couple of months that Dylan tries really hard to keep up with his big brother, but it really struck me how successful he'd gotten at that when I watched him at Evan's birthday party. He ran around like crazy at the bouncy place with all the big kids, he sat patiently in the big inflatable chair next to Evan for the birthday party photo session, and then he sat straight-backed at the picnic table with everybody else and drank from a juice box with a straw. I guess I have to accept that he's not my 'little baby' anymore.
The Love of Wa-Wa!
Dylan's daycare class has "Splash Days" every Tuesday this Summer, where they wear their swimsuits and have various water toys to play with on the playground (a little pool, sprinklers, a water table, etc.) For the first couple of sessions, Dylan absolutely HATED it and spent the whole hour crying and trying to avoid the water. So when my parents were visiting a couple of weeks ago and we decided to take the boys to a water park for the first time, I wasn't sure how Dylan was going to react. My Mom and I tried to lead him gently into the most shallow part of the pool but as soon as his feet got wet, he threw a fit and ended up in a lawn chair with my Mom. After he watched his big brother having a great time in the water, we tried to introduce him slowly into it again, but this time he just plowed right in and was waist deep in water in a matter of seconds and seemed to love it. When we were all getting out to go get some lunch at the pool-side cafe, he had another fit and started crying "Wa-Wa! Wa-Wa!" and pointing back at the pool. Now his teachers tell me that he LOVES Splash Day and is a totally different child than he was a few weeks ago!

"Meow, Peek-A-Boo!"
Dylan discovered one of our cats lying under our bed and he kept peeking at her and saying "Meow, Peek-A-Boo." So cute!
Sick Days
As mentioned in the previous post, I discovered that Dylan was running a
fever when we returned from a trip to Maryland for his cousins' birthday
party last Sunday. He did not sleep very well on Sunday night and on
Monday morning, he cried "Mouth! Mouth!" soon after he woke up. I took him to the doctor that morning and his
pediatrician diagnosed him with the Hand, Foot and Mouth virus. I
couldn't see any tell-tale signs but the doc said that he had blisters
all over the back of his throat, on his tongue and on the sides of his
mouth. He had a pretty good day on Monday but woke me up at 2 that night
and didn't go back to sleep until around 3:30. On Tuesday morning, he
was extremely irritable and cried repeatedly over every little thing. I
gave him some Children's Advil and he promptly gagged and threw
his breakfast up all over himself. On Wednesday, he was in better
spirits but was covered all over with a red spotty rash and had several
blisters on his face, hands and feet. On Thursday, the rash and
blisters all started to fade and he was FINALLY able to go back to
daycare on Friday. It was a long week but thankfully, I was able to
work from home. Dylan was really good to play independently nearby for big chunks of time but
he'd often come up to me and give a spontaneous hug or kiss or just
smile and say "Hey Mama!" :)
