New Developments

Dylan has had a lot of excitement in the last couple of months. He has gotten his first two teeth and started eating "real food"...well, baby-pureed versions of it, anyway. He learned how to clap his hands and he does this to music at times, and other times seems to do it to soothe himself when he's in fussy mode. He has gotten very good at sitting up without support, and last week, he figured out how to roll over from his back to his tummy and brace his body with his arms, as if he's about to take off crawling. However, as soon as he gets in that position, he seems to realize that he doesn't know what to do so he just rolls back over onto his back again. I don't think it will be too much longer before he's mobile and into everything!

Nana's Visit (a.k.a. A Very Bad Week)

Well, I have somehow managed to go 3 months without posting anything on here and now there's no way I can catch up, so I'll just start with this month. My Mom came to visit us on April 2nd for what was supposed to be a fun week of doing projects, organizing the house and shopping. By the end of the week, I was about convinced that someone had put a hex on our household. First, Evan ran a high fever the day my Mom arrived and still had it the next day. Took him to the doctor that Monday -- double ear infection and pink eye, and he was started on antibiotics. On Tuesday, Dylan got pink eye and was prescribed an antibiotic eye ointment. Tom started to feel really terrible that day and was running a fever and on Wednesday, he was diagnosed with "Acute Sinusitis and/or Strep Throat" and was put on antibiotics. The next day, I woke up feeling terrible and was diagnosed with a sinus infection and was put on antibiotics. While I was at the doctor's office, my Mom called to say she'd thrown her back out and needed me to get home as quickly as possible to take care of Dylan because she was in extreme pain and couldn't lift him. On Friday, Dylan woke me at 4:30 am crying, and he had a fever of 103.6....and was later diagnosed with the croup. On Saturday, Mom was extremely nauseous and couldn't eat a thing all day. And after she went home, she got pink eye!! (If you're still reading this, you're wondering when I'm going to describe the swarm of locusts that invaded our house...)
Anyway, we're mostly back to normal around here, finally, and Mom's reports that her back is doing much better. Didn't take very many pictures during her visit, but who wants to see pix of a bunch of sick people anyway? Here's a couple I managed to shoot just before taking her back to the airport. Hopefully her next visit will be far less eventful!!
