Baby Joanie

These pictures of me at age 1 should fully answer the frequently asked question of "Where did Dylan get those monstrous cheeks?" I've seen all of these expressions on Dylan's face before, and he definitely inherited my mouth.

One Year Stats

Dylan had his One-Year pediatrician's appointment last week and got 3 vaccination shots. His doctor said he looked great and was very impressed with how he was exhibiting both advanced motor skills and beginning language skills, instead of favoring one area. I tried to get him to show off all of his new tricks, like saying "Up, Down" while moving his hands up and down, and saying "Uh oh," "ball" "Mama" and "Dada" but he mainly just wanted to dance and play with his toy chicken. He now weighs 24.2 lbs. (67%) and is 31 inches tall (86%). He's had quite a growth spurt since his 9 Month appointment when he was 21.5 lbs and was 28 and 1/2 inches tall.
As a comparison, Evan at 12 months old was 24.1 lbs and was 30 and 1/2 inches tall. so it's almost a tie!

Dylan's New Ride

In honor of Dylan's birthday, I decided to get us both a new present and traded in the old single stroller that I'd been using since Evan was a few weeks old, and got a shiny new one for Dylan. Babies R Us literally lets you "trade in" the old for new and took my old, dirty, beat-up stroller and gave me 30% off the new one. We finally had a break in the weather where it wasn't so hot and Dylan and I took it out for a test drive. He conked out about 5 minutes after we got outside, so the stroller was a success!

Dylan Love Cake!

My creative-genius husband put this great video together to commemorate Dylan's birthday celebrations. So cute!!

Happy First Birthday!!!

Dylan's 1st birthday fell on Labor Day this year so we had a nice 3-day long weekend for celebrating. We went up to Tom's sister's house on Saturday the 3rd for a family photo shoot for Tom's parents' 50th wedding anniversary (and Becky requested that we wear white shirts and blue jean bottoms...hence the matching outfits in the birthday party pix!) After the photo shoot, we had a celebration for Dylan and he got his first taste of birthday cake...or more like birthday icing. He was so enthralled with the sweet, gooey stuff that he didn't actually get much cake in his mouth. On his actual birthday, we had presents and balloons at home in the morning. Then I took the boys to the mall where Dylan had his first Chick-Fil-A nuggets experience, which he LOVED! (Chip off the old block!) For dinner, we all went out for pizza and then had cupcakes afterwards at home. It was a great weekend but I still can't believe my little baby is now 1!! They grow up soooo fast!!
