Little Sickie

Dylan had four really rough nights in a row last week. We couldn't figure out why he was sleeping so poorly and getting so fussy at night when he seemed fine during the day. Then on Wednesday afternoon, his daycare teacher called to say that he greenish yellow junk flowing out of his eyes. I got him to the doctor the next morning and learned that not only were both eyes infected but he also had a double ear infection. The doctor said that every time he laid down at night, the pressure on his ears would be intensified and would result in a lot of pain, which explained why he wasn't sleeping. So now he's on oral antibiotics and antibiotic eye drops. His eyes cleared up right away and he's had 3 much better nights in a row now so the medicine must be working. I kept him home on Thursday and Friday. He slept almost all day on Thursday but on Friday he was wild and full of energy. I ended up taking 1/2 the day off (instead of working from home) and we went out and met Tom for lunch and then did a bit of shopping. He had a good time.

President's Day

The boys' daycare was closed on President's Day so I took the day off and Tom had the day off. We all went to the mall and had a fun day. This was the first time that Dylan got to break out of the stroller and run loose in the mall (under his Dad's close supervision). He loved it and probably won't be as content to be stroller-bound from now on!

Mmm, Spaghetti!!

More Outdoor Fun in January!

In 2012, we had the mildest January weather that I've ever experienced since moving to Virginia in 1998! We had several days that were in the 60's and even a couple in the 70's which meant that the boys got to play outside quite a bit. Hooray for early Spring!!

Books and Body Parts

Dylan has taken a keen interest in books lately and he's especially fond of ones about animals. You can hear him ooh-ing and ahh-ing over Evan's "Cats" book, and then at the end he shows off his new talent of identifying various body parts. I'm very proud of my smart boy!

For the Love of Elmo!

Dylan has become quite star-struck with that most famous of all toddler-friendly celebrities, Elmo of Sesame Street! "Eh-mo" was one of the first names he was able to say and now he associates just about anything bright red with Elmo. When I saw that Stride Rite had Elmo shoes, I couldn't resist getting him a pair. He absolutely loves them and keeps pointing to his feet while shouting "Eh-mo!"
